Jose Manuel Gonzalez’s popularity has grown tremendously in Venezuela. This is partly because of his skill set as a businessperson and partly because of his political ideologies, which most Venezuelan commoners believe will deliver them from their woes.
His aspirations in life go beyond the personal achievements he makes. From his constant criticism of the Venezuelan government, it is clear that he dreams of seeing change in Venezuela. To achieve this dream, he joined politics. He believed that he would be better placed fighting for changes in the government from the inside. His ambition got him a position in the National Assembly of Guarico state as deputy. While in this position, he has not been afraid to shame the government for their poor policies and greed. His constant ridicule of the government has made him receive a lot of opposition from other government officials.
The main area where Jose Manuel Gonzales has been criticizing for the longest time is the agricultural sector. He lays all the blame for the failed agricultural sector on the government pointing the finger at its poor policies. In his opinion, one of the policies that have led to the death of the agricultural sector is the fixing of prices for essential commodities. According to him, the fixing of prices is the reason behind the government paying peanuts to farmers for their produce hence their inability to sustain their livelihoods. In a bid to better their lives, the farmers have opted to smuggle food to neighboring countries to get better deals and consequently there has been food shortage in Venezuela. He believes that better pay for farmers produce will end the shortage in food since Venezuela already has fertile soils and shrewd farmers.
Mr. Gonzalez also feels that there is dire need for the government to mine oil instead of importing it at ridiculous prices. He believes that the reduced expenditure on imports will better the balance of payments and consequently the economy.
